From Buckinghamshire, songwriter and artist Acting As Functional’s “Adams Mix” is meant for those days that aren’t too complicated

Acting As Functional is the artistic moniker of this songwriter based in Buckinghamshire, UK. He brings to the listener both the fun and emotive side of music, allowing them to relish in the music’s tasty melodies and escape from the too-a-times ugly reality the world confides us in. The beauty in the music rests in its enchanting allure as he finds the most unique ways to present his music while still touching on accessible things that any listener can relate to. Learning through the process and trying to better himself with every release, Acting As Functional’s work reflects an amalgamation of innovation, deep passion, and an inarguable sense of purpose.

“Adams Mix” features a total of 5 tracks that span electronic and synthetic pop, ambient, rock, and alternative, showcasing a journey that has been characterized by constant growth, discovery, and evolution. This music is the kind that isn’t too complicated and best enjoyed over a happy meal or joyous gathering. For me, the music exudes those good times and equally good vibes.

The opener “Parachute final” lives up to its name—it’s an electro-charged, high-energy masterpiece that transcends the high skies with that potent melody. An undeniable pick-me-up banger, this song features a buoyant cocktail of booming basslines, cinematic percussion, rolling synths, and driving drums that create this hauntingly cheerful brand of soundscape that is capable of lighting up any scene.

“FRISK ME UP and DOWN” is a bit ethereal with a delightfully toned down, chill vibe right from the opening notes as the attractive vocals breathe life into the track’s emotive story. The delicate percussion, profound keys, and subtly floating hi-hats exude such an easy-going atmosphere, underscoring the track’s mellow vibe.

“Sleepwalking Sleeptalking positive” has an inescapable rock thrill off the bat. That charged drums and guitar interplay provides an attractive backdrop for the unmistakable vocals that capture the essence of the kind of love/person that makes everything super special. The alluring rhythm the track exudes is bound to stay with the listener long after the track’s runtime.

“Dead or alive” is another upbeat stunner that jumps at a listener with an undeniable cadence presence. The song’s potent richness is a testament to the awesomeness of alternative pop, as the lyrics powerfully capture the kind of love that burns like fossil fuel. What I like about this song is how, as it progresses, that beat that is the track’s heartbeat is let free, ebbing and flowing with a distinct reggae-like charisma and bursting with an irresistible rhythmicity that effortlessly invokes the dancing spirit of a listener. As someone who finds pleasure in moving to inviting beats with carefree abandon, this song is one of my personal favorites from the project.

The last track, “Three xxx pieces of fruit” is succinct and sweet, spanning just 38 seconds, but that is all that you need to catch the vibe and feel connected to the music. The enticingly tempting guitars and drums envelop a listener in this delightful embrace as the driving cadence of the beats leaves you physically and emotionally gratified.

“Adams Mix” is an overall highly listenable project that speaks volumes about Acting As Functional’s insatiable passion for music and his willingness to continue bettering his craft and delve into unique and still accessible sonic charters.

Here, there is something for everyone. These tracks are perfect for those holiday getaways as much as those chill, late-night introspective walks where the music acts as the guide to your heart and soul’s destiny.

Revel!
