London-based songwriter Bayley Mckenzie has a new infectiously memorable anthem, “Oh My.”

Have you ever lived through that bittersweet ache of love unspoken? Something like a beautiful tragedy lived in slow motion because you developed a crush on your friend? If so, perhaps you may agree that it is like living in a secret storm—soft on the outside but wild and chaotic inside. From London, 25-year-old songwriter Bayley Mckenzie unpacks these tender, confusing, and sometimes even heartbreaking emotions in a catchy and infectious anthem, “Oh My,” that has been in existence since September 2023, recorded 6 months ago, and only released a few days ago… How unfair of Mckenzie to keep us waiting on a gem of this magnitude!

“Oh My” is a vibrant, feel-good pop anthem that instantly captures the attention of the listener. It is actually the kind of track that feels like sunshine in audio form—smooth, catchy, and emotionally warm.

In this kind of conflicted state of mind, there’s a delicate balance you keep between being close enough to bask in their presence and distant enough to protect your feelings. From the outside, no one really understands—they think it’s odd or dramatic. “Just tell them,” they might say, as if that’s easy. But they don’t see the way your friendship is stitched into your day-to-day life. To confess could unravel everything. So instead, you hold your feelings close, treating them like a precious secret no one can understand.

At its core, “Oh My” is a song tinged with vulnerability and devotion. This is the case of not being ashamed to say how you really feel to your friend but being afraid of the silence that might follow once the words are out!

The production for the jam is minimal yet infectious, led by bouncy, groovy basslines and soft guitar plucks. The enchanting vocals add that raspy tone, grounding it with a more melancholic and raw edge.

The accompanying music video is a masterclass in how simplicity and emotional honesty can come together to create a massive hit.

To put it into perspective, “Oh My” is instantly recognizable, endlessly replayable, and genuinely sweet without being cheesy!

An ideal addition to your playlist, most might say.
