American band Big Sexy provides some eardrum motivation with their enchanting and heartfelt performance in “New Mexico Nights”

A prolific cross-genre band, Big Sexy has been making music on their own terms, writing songs that mix infectious hooks and heartfelt honesty. With its mix of authentic rock, folk, Americana, and modern-day roots music, Big Sexy music always unfolds like conversations, immediately getting listeners intrigued and more than ready to receive the music. Through Gary Maccagnone’s emotion-filled vocal performances and Alex Goroshko’s composition and production prowess, Big Sexy radiates raw emotions through ear-gracing instrumentation. Inspired by their life experiences and those of people around them, this band strives to push the envelope with its sound and bridge various elements from different genres to create a well-rounded, dynamic style.

“New Mexico Nights” follows the story of a troubled man who has been pushed to the edge after his ex-wife runs away with their children. His futile attempts to find the children lead him to contemplate suicide at a New Mexico campground.

The gist of this jam rests in its poignancy and catchiness. The lyrics are raw and honest, as Big Sexy takes a storytelling approach, taking a listener through these chapters of a man pushed to the edge and feeling like there is nothing more left of him.

Employing such genre-bending creativity, Big Sexy creates something that defies easy categorization. This is not a track that you can pigeonhole, thanks to its varied stylistic influences. The indie rock-folk structure meets the stylistic caliber of Americana as the emotion-drenched vocals breathe life in the most expressive of ways.

The chorus plays continuously in my head, and the moment he starts singing “New Mexico Nights…,” the music resonates with deep emotions, compelling me to sing along.

The acoustic guitar provides a warm, resonant sound that complements the song’s structure, the electric guitar adds a more contemporary edge to the music, the bass provides that low-end rhythm and groove that ties the music together; and the drums keep the rhythm and provide dynamic setup to the track.

The string instrument as the song progresses adds that soulful, bluesy quality to the music, giving it an atmospheric feel.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to give you “New Mexico Nights” by Big Sexy. Enjoy!
