Bill Mandara channels the grit and humor of navigating life’s curveballs into his refined new thirteen track rock album titled It’s Always Something

Bill Mandara is an architect by trade but a musician by calling. He returns now with his most immersive project yet. His latest full-length album is titled It’s Always Something. It is a thirteen-track rock journey born from personal challenges, observations of the world, and a creative fire that has burned for decades.

Mandara balances a high-stakes career in New York City with his evolving musical craft. He continues to build a legacy defined by authenticity and technical command. His path was unconventional as he went from a school-age drummer to a multi-instrumentalist later in life. After picking up guitar and keys at age forty, he spent five years mastering recording techniques.

He released his independent debut Cloudy Days in 2021 with his son Joey on vocals. The momentum built through What the Hell Is Wrong With You??? in 2022 and the reflective Middle Aged Angst the following year. Then came Musings of a Dinosaur in 2024. Each record showed a willingness to refine and rebuild until the music felt true.

Now Mandara presents It’s Always Something after eighteen months of writing and reworking. The project captures the emotional weight and humor of navigating life’s curveballs. This album exudes raw emotion alongside sharp musicianship and cinematic storytelling. While the record stands strong as a cohesive whole, four specific tracks offer a potent glimpse into Mandara’s headspace.

The album kicks open the doors with a sprawling arena rocker titled “We have reached the end (I just work here)” featuring guest Chris Magno. Mandara delivers soaring riffs that command attention immediately. The running hook becomes an anthemic chant as he sings “It’s all over, I just work here, don’t look at me… we’ve reached the end…” It lingers long after the final note with the explosive energy of a band playing to a stadium lit by phone screens. It is a tour de force.

The second track “I can’t pay the fine” changes gears with a cinematic intro. The interplay between guitar and drums unfolds like the opening shot of a gritty indie film. It belongs in a late-night bar scene with a whiskey glass sweating on the counter. There is swagger in the groove and weight in the lyrics. The punchy relentlessness demands a replay because you feel this track as much as you hear it.

Track four is “Every mile is a test” and it serves as an atmospheric epiphany. The opening gently pulls the listener inward to explore resilience and personal evolution. It possesses a quiet power that builds into something triumphant. Mandara’s lyricism shines here with the edge of earned wisdom. The melody is steady while the arrangement feels carefully layered. It is inspiring without being preachy and honest without being heavy-handed.

You are fully locked in by track six. “It’s easier to be wrong” is where vulnerability meets masterful craft. A mellow intro swells gracefully into a steady rock cadence supported by textured rhythms. There is a bittersweet quality here that reflects hard-won clarity. Mandara weaves technical precision with heartfelt expression in his solo work. This tune sticks to the ribs and refuses to be forgotten.

It’s Always Something is a rock album worth the time. It reflects the chaos and beauty of everyday life. Mandara channels it into a project that is musically impressive and emotionally compelling. The record proves great rock music can still surprise us with explosive hooks and introspective ballads. This is an album with heart and honesty that deserves airplay.
