Coma Beach’s EP “Passion/Bliss” takes listeners on an emotional journey exploring punk urgency and vulnerability through five tracks of raw storytelling

This band delivers a soundtrack for existential questioning. Coma Beach draws from the chaotic punch of punk and the reflective mood of alternative rock, blending raw energy with thoughtful introspection. Their debut, “The Scapegoat’s Agony,” goes beyond a typical album. It tells a story about shock, pain, rage, and isolation, shaped by an uncompromising vision. The band merges intense musical aggression with lyrics that actually have something to say, creating songs that feel cathartic and confrontational all at once.

Coma Beach is all about the tension between emotion and thought. Their music suits anyone staring into the void and deciding to shout back.

The band’s new EP, “Passion/Bliss,” continues that tradition. The project runs a tight sixteen minutes and pulls you through five tracks that pick apart desire, disappointment, hope, and destruction. Throughout, Coma Beach keeps their blend of punk anxiety and atmospheric alternative rock.

The opener, “Passion,” is packed with restless energy. It’s a loud, volatile track that captures the hunger and recklessness of wanting more from life. The riffs are sharp, the rhythm section drives everything forward, and the vocals hover between hope and collapse. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to shout your own questions into the night.

“Bliss” offers a shift into darker territory, putting your own mind on trial. The track almost dares you to stop thinking and just feel. There’s an uneasy edge to its energy, as if happiness itself is slipping away. The guitars have a washed-out, post-punk feel, adding to the sense that bliss can be as unnerving as it is appealing.

From there, the EP flows into “Astray (Fallen Angel).” This track sits at the center of the project, telling a story about loss, temptation, and falling from grace. The lyrics and arrangement lean into literary influences, evoking that constant tension between longing and failure. The song moves between calm, reflective passages and bursts of frustration, giving you space to breathe before pulling you back under.

Lines like, “Tell me the meaning of my life, tell me the meaning of forgiveness, tell me the meaning of my death,” stand out in “Nothing Right.” This is one of the rawest tracks here. It’s loud, direct, and unafraid to show its punk roots. Even with all the force, there’s still a sense of something inevitable and tragic running through it. You get the feeling that even when you fight, the world just doesn’t care.

The EP ends with “Final Door,” a song that is rhythmically catchy but heavy with emotion. It feels like reaching the end of something big and staring at what comes next, unsure if it’s freedom or emptiness waiting for you. The track is easy to move to but leaves you thinking long after it ends.

Across “Passion/Bliss,” Coma Beach proves again that they know how to turn deep questions into urgent, memorable music. The EP is intense, haunting, and honest. It doesn’t try to tie things up neatly, but it does offer plenty to chew on. At just over sixteen minutes, it’s a brief but powerful experience, where passion, bliss, pain, and emptiness all collide.

If you’re looking for a soundtrack to those late-night thoughts, this might be it. You can stream “Passion/Bliss” below and see where it takes you.
