Dathomirror Doors Channel Pain and Gothic Melancholy Into the Shadowy World of Debut EP “Abandon Love”

Dathomirror Doors are a deliberately enigmatic presence from South Florida. Made up of Joey Depp and Ant Demico, the duo works in a dark, immersive space where shadowy gothic rock meets modern metal undercurrents and the hazier textures of darkwave. They have made isolation part of the band’s identity, keeping away from the noise of social media and allowing the music to carry the weight on its own. That distance suits their sound. Ominous atmosphere, brooding intensity, haunted textures, and a theatrical sense of mystery run through their work, drawing Dathomirror Doors toward the darker end of the goth spectrum, where melancholy, metallic force, and otherworldly ambience blur together.

That world comes into focus on “Abandon Love,” the duo’s five-track debut EP, now streaming on major platforms. Across the project, textured electronics sit beside spacey guitars, ruminative beats, and soaring guitar passages. The writing is equally dark in temperament, built around stark confessions, hypnotic phrases, emotional wounds, and flashes of lyrical venom.

The title track, “Abandon Love,” begins in a brooding, unsettling haze. Slow-moving rock atmospherics mingle with creaking electronic details as spacey guitars drift over uneasy, ruminative beats. From there, the arrangement steadily tightens, moving out of the murk and into a heavier, enveloping refrain. Joey Depp’s vocals cut through the darkness, initially sounding almost submerged before opening up as the track develops. The song feels deeply personal and wary, grounding its mood in bleak confessions of heartbreak, distrust, and emotional isolation.

“Burned Alive” keeps some of that unease, though its atmosphere is softer and more hypnotic. Structured, stepped percussion gives the track a deliberate pulse, while layers of reverb stretch the instrumentation into a wide, echoing space. The vocals feel submerged inside the production, with repeated lines taking on the character of an eerie chant. Beneath that haze, the song remains bruised and severe. Its lyrics dwell on torment, internal destruction, and emotional scarring, giving the title’s visceral imagery a psychological weight.

The third track, “Die Alone,” is wavy and strangely moving, yet its energy stays tightly controlled. A heavy, tempered rush of bass and punchy rhythm work drives the song forward as distant, howling guitars cut through the background and add a sense of disorder. The vocal delivery turns ferocious here, throwing out barbed phrases with a sharper, more venomous anger. Lyrically, the song sinks into total isolation, malice, and the rejection of companionship, treating loneliness as something permanent rather than temporary.

“Evil Spell” pushes deeper into gothic drama and supernatural dread. Its production forms an oppressive, almost spellbinding wall of sound, leaning on textured electronics, dark synth layers, and syncopated rock rhythms that create a trance-like pull. The vocal arrangement shifts between sinister, low-register spoken passages and melodies that rise with increasing desperation. At its core, the song circles manipulation, the feeling of being trapped by outside forces or toxic relationships, and the loss of free will.

The closing track, “Suffer You Will,” leaves the EP on a bleak and vindictive note. Echo and panning choices give the mix an eerie aftertaste, while punchy rhythm work shares space with sweeping guitar solos and heavy electronic glitches. The duo use prominent delay on the vocals, creating an overlapping, disorienting effect that makes each warning feel difficult to escape. The mood is unforgiving. Deep-seated scars harden into resentment, and the song closes around a promise of shared misery.

“Abandon Love” is streaming now everywhere.
