Emerging electronic artist DONJON honors the memory of his family through the emotive and wordless storytelling of Remember Them

Sean Hogan operates under the moniker DONJON and approaches his craft with the delicate care usually reserved for fragile memories. He grew up in a home where music acted as a primary language rather than background noise because his mother served as the family’s resident DJ. She constantly shifted genres to match the mood. That foundation taught Hogan that sound is something to be felt. Everything changed in 2024 when he lost his mother to cancer and his brother to suicide. Production stopped being a hobby and became a necessity. He committed fully to the craft and began releasing tracks via DistroKid with a renewed sense of purpose.

“Remember Them” marks the start of this new creative era. It represents his choice to present his heart to the world in a raw and unspoken format. The song is completely instrumental yet it proves that lyrics are often unnecessary for emotional storytelling. The space between the percussion frequently communicates more than a standard chorus ever could.

The composition unfolds like a memory in real time. You can hear traces of influences like Tiësto and Ben Böhmer but the result is distinctly DONJON. The opening synths arrive like a sunrise breaking a long night to offer a soft but certain reminder that healing eventually arrives. When the beat enters, it remains patient and steady. It walks beside the listener rather than overwhelming them. There is a glowing warmth in the progression that reveals the strangely beautiful side of grief where memories can simultaneously break and comfort the spirit.

Since the track lacks vocals, the listener’s mind naturally fills in the gaps. You can sense the love he honors alongside the heavy pain he carries. It takes immense strength to translate those complex feelings into audio. The production possesses a floating quality that leaves you suspended between what is gone and what remains. Every layer sounds intentional and every drop feels earned. The rising melodies resemble a quiet conversation between Hogan and the family he lost. It manages to be tender without feeling fragile and emotional without veering into melodrama.

The context makes “Remember Them” impact the listener even more deeply. This release represents far more than a standard upload on a streaming platform. It marks the specific moment Hogan decided to start over and transform his grieving into creating. The song serves as both a tribute and a promise to persevere. The track becomes a shared space where listeners can see their own stories reflected in his work. If you appreciate melodic house that resonates on a deep level, this is worth your time. Let it play and allow it to remind you of your own reasons for moving forward.
