Bristol-based beatmaker injijo shares “VERTIGO,” a beattape that blurs lines between genres and invites listeners into a world where nostalgia meets innovation.

From his home studio in Bristol, injijo creates music that feels both intimate and cinematic. His sound balances analog warmth and digital clarity, turning what could be genre boundaries into creative opportunities. Listening to his work, you can hear the influence of old vinyl and cassettes, Rhodes keys, and vintage synths, all shaped by the tools of today like the SP404 and Ableton 12. The result is a dreamy, reflective atmosphere that feels at once familiar and new, like memories reshaped into something fresh.

His latest release, “VERTIGO,” is a beattape that draws on soul-hop, lo-fi hip-hop, neo-soul, alternative R&B, and other dreamy, nostalgic sounds. It carries the cozy feel of bedroom sessions with the ambition of a concept album. Each track offers something to get lost in, whether it’s the soft haze of an ambient chord or the steady groove of a chopped drum break.

The tape runs just over ten minutes, packing 11 tracks into a tight, flowing sequence. “VERTIGO” draws inspiration from the music of the 2000s and has a vibe that will resonate with anyone who appreciates warm samples, crisp hi-hats, and the feeling of déjà vu in sound. There’s a sense of movement through time, as if the music is guiding you through moments you recognize even if you can’t quite name them.

Injijo wanted this tape to feel like a single, continuous breath. The transitions are smooth, tactile, and emotionally tuned. He weaves in bits of audio from Big Brother UK Season 2, adding a unique, nostalgic twist that surfaces unexpectedly.

Listeners who know the work of birrathegunslinger, coldplushtoy, areyetee, chakra, or toshi will hear a kindred spirit here, but injijo’s voice is distinct. He leans into soulful loops, textured transitions, and hi-hats with their own personality. Standout tracks like “somebody,” “where are you,” “i wanna know,” and “everytime” fill the space with daydream energy and sepia-tinted mood.

“VERTIGO” has already found an audience, with over 4,000 listens on Soundcloud and plenty of positive feedback. It feels like a carefully preserved time capsule, put together by someone with real passion and skill.

This tape is more than a collection of beats. “VERTIGO” is an immersive listen, a chance to fall into sound and find something new each time. As injijo continues to make music that explores unexpected corners of the genre, there’s more to look forward to.

You can listen to “VERTIGO” now on Soundcloud. Keep up with injijo for more releases and updates as he keeps pushing boundaries in the world of beatmaking.
