Repping Queens, NY hip-hop, and rap whiz Joestar is sleek and braggadocios on the mic with that scene-stealing delivery dubbed “Russian Roulette”

With an aggressive flow, clever street-inspired lyrics, and an impeccable taste for arresting beats, Queens, New York-based rapper and artist Joestar is a fast riser in the game who has been making his mark one banger at a time. His witty flows and unique deliveries have captivated rap music fans, and his voice’s  distinctive hazy, atmospheric feel is reminiscent of artists like Smoke. He’s got the kind of voice that has a moody, laid-back tone, often conveying a sense of introspection or aggression, which aligns with the immersive and gritty nature of his music.

This year, Joestar released his album dubbed “NYC” which was met with critical acclaim, earning him rave reviews from the music press as well as massive numbers from hip-hop music diehards. It is one of those projects that is not only authentic but also reflects the peerless gifts Joestar possesses, allowing him to tell stories through distinctive productions.

“Russian Roulette” is a standout jam from the collection. One that is essentially about who Joestar is and what his visions are. He may come off as braggadocios, like many rap artists, but beneath the hard-hittingly boastful rhymes is an emcee telling his story of where he’s come from, and the tremendous risks he’s taken to get where he is and, ultimately, where he aims to be.

A true showcase of his first-rate rapping techniques, Joestar seamlessly unleashes some intricate rhymes over the classic yet expressive production that is deeply haunting, giving the tune a pensive feel and allowing it to continue playing in the head thanks to its plethora of memorable hooks.

“Russian Roulette” is the mark of an emcee at the top of his game who knows how to play the game well. He is affirming how he took a life-altering gamble, choosing to drop out of college in order to chase his music dreams. While it might have seemed like an ill-advised decision at the time, he has been vindicated. I mean, look at him now!

A massive hit that can compete with the best of them, “Russian Roulette” is a bold, classic, and haunting hip-hop jam that deserves its place in any top rap playlist.

Check this jam out, and let it be your new favorite anthem!
