London-based singer-songwriter John Weatherall enchants with “Subtle Thing”

John Weatherall is always grateful that he found his passion in music when COVID hit, and he never stopped,, creatively expressing himself through songwriting before he delved deep into his own karaoke sessions and then went on to hire a voice coach in order to refine his singing skills and cadence, and here we are. He currently boasts over 7K Spotify monthly listeners and thousands of streams to his incredible tunes. As John developed a passion for expressing his feelings, heart, growth, and memories through his music, he discovered the ability to incorporate unique and different styles into each song, and that is what he has been doing: winning over fans and critics alike with his genre-defying sound.

With his latest jam, dubbed “Subtle Thing”, John captures the wonder and authenticity of this tune and really hits a listener right in the feels!

Working with the music producer Danny Blackburn, you can feel the two understand each other well because the up-tempo, catchy, and lively production is a seamless fit with John’s immensely expressive vocals as he oscillates through the soundscape, exuding such an irresistible allure.

On a track that explores an all too familiar theme about relationship squabbles and the ensuing need to call it quits, John’s emotive delivery and his impeccable flows accentuate the weight of the lyrics.

The excellent production wraps around the lyrics like a warm embrace and it is the fact that you can hear his love and passion for the genre that gives this track its immediacy.

With international appeal, there is that traditional pop foundation with contemporary sensibilities; the cinematic arrangement heightens the impact of the track and ensures you are hooked from start to finish.

This is such a masterclass in nostalgic and relevant pop music and would fit in any playlist catering to pop, rock, and upbeat jazz music, both mainstream and independent.
