Internationally acclaimed musician and disability rights advocate Lachi’s newest release, “Out of The Dark” encapsulates the power of music to heal, empower, and uplift.

Lachi; a Black woman of towering depth with a mammoth heart. To describe her fully would take more than words, really. Her impact as an advocate for those living with disabilities as well as gay people and others who have been deemed undeserving by society speaks for itself; it’s massive, global even. It has been felt and not just seen. She is a true pioneer, a leader, and an inspiration to all. She is Lachi—a woman whose influence resonates globally, lifting others up and breaking barriers, one extraordinary accomplishment at a time. As a black-blind woman who spent most of her life chasing her dreams, even those that seemed out of reach for’someone like her,’ pushing beyond limits and breaking barriers without giving doubters the satisfaction that’she’s trying to make a point,’ she more than knows and understands what it is like to navigate through a society that has already written you off…and yet she did it and she continues empowering others like her. If this does not make her a heroine, I don’t know what does.

In advancing her advocacy causes in regards to equal rights for those living with disabilities as well as LGBTQ people, Lachi, together with some world-class musicians, are coming together to bring you a concert series dubbed “Mad Different,” that was exclusively filmed at Amazon Music Studios in NYC. This is a universally resonant cause championing for disabled and LGBTQ rights backed by defiant pride in identity—for anyone who prides themselves in their identity, no matter how society views them.

“Out of The Dark” is a project off of this series and one that deeply encapsulates the powerful inspiration behind the whole project, sonically, visually, and lyrically. It is a masterclass in haunting music execution with a stunning blend of alluring piano notes, heart-touching cello, ear-worming bass, and intimate spoken word climax.

Lachi sets the tone with her thoughtful piano playing, setting a mellifluent tone for her soulful powerhouse vocals as she serenades a listener and takes over their mind like a witch. More flavor and depth are added thanks to the impressively played cello by Mercedes as she underscores the song’s emotional depth with her exquisite technique. The bassist Caylen adds color with her fingerpicking dexterity, spreading delightful melodies all around. The Bongos from Lisette give the song an agreeable feel…almost like you can approach it if it were a person or a pet!

Medusa then elevates the song’s appeal with their strikingly efficient spoken word prowess, adding that subtle hip-hop touch to a jazz tour de force and vividly painting the pride of LGBTQ with graphic detail.

Now that you have an idea of what this fully-produced song sounds like, I want you to imagine a more intimate, floaty, and clearer version because that is what “Out of The Dark (Acoustic)” is. Everything here comes out so vividly as the beautiful, soulful, and heartfelt voice of Lachi permeates the air as much as a listener’s heart and soul, the piano and cello floating in a canvas akin to an empty cloud, and Medusa’s poetic expression feels as if it is being presented right beside you!

I loved every minute of this acoustic track because it feels like such a religious experience, really. The performance video that is out on YouTube is so gratifying thanks to that intimate setting as Lachi and her collaborators bounce off one another to deliver a masterpiece that is more felt and less heard.

“Out of The Dark” is such a powerful piece with a resoundingly powerful message, and the heartfelt and impassioned performance here leaves nothing to be desired.

Lachi is also gearing up for the release of more stunning singles this December, and I’d hate it were you to miss out on them. That’s why I highly recommend that you follow her everywhere @LachiMusic
