“Father Figure” by multitalented hip-hop artist, songwriter, and producer PIVE is a soul-stirring tribute that echoes through time.

Hip-hop is at its most powerful when it speaks truth—and few artists embody that power like PIVE, the Spokane-based emcee known for his vulnerable lyricism and raw authenticity. On June 5th, as he marks three years since the passing of his beloved father, PIVE invites us to revisit his most personal and poignant offering to date: “Father Figure,” a heartfelt single from “I Will Forever Be II.”

Set against melancholic piano keys and underscored by deep, emotional hip-hop percussion, “Father Figure” is more than a song—it’s a conversation between a son and his departed hero. PIVE’s commanding voice carries the ache of loss, the warmth of remembrance, and the pain of missing what once was. Each verse is a letter drenched in grief, gratitude, and grace.

This is the case of just wanting to see him, talk to him, and share with him just one more laugh, just one more moment.

The accompanying music video, released July 13, 2022, is a masterstroke of visual intimacy. It blends powerful solo mic performances with nostalgic footage and personal family clips, painting a vivid portrait of the man who shaped PIVE into who he is today. The video closes with an unforgettable clip of his father delivering a touching speech at PIVE’s wedding—a moment that now stands as a timeless keepsake.

Anyone can be a daddy, but it takes a real man to be a father. PIVE’s hope is that his father is resting peacefully and watching over him, very proud of the man that he is and continues to become.

This June 5th, join PIVE in honoring not just his father, but all the true “father figures” whose presence continues to shape the lives they’ve left behind.

Check this special music video below and allow it to resonate deeply with your own loss.
