ROCKOKO Put Their Hands on a Music Piece “Monstrum Orthrus” Which Is an Expressive Instrumental Piece about the War in Ukraine

ROCKOKO band is a Ukrainian instrumental band that was formed in the year 2012 by three musicians: Michael Romanyshyn (violinist and composer), Ihor Protsyk (cellist), and Volodymyr Kotlyarov (cellist and composer). The band flaunts its mobility and versatility by showcasing how comfortable they fit in various musical genres such as symphonic rock, symphotronica, acoustic, pop, and dance, D&B, Metal and even Jazz. Over their artistic expedition, they have had the honor of creating the concert program with the Symphonic Orchestra; had two All-Ukrainian tours, performances in the largest concert halls of Ukraine, Video-shootings of the concerts and their broadcasting on TV, and concerts abroad in countries such as Poland, Hungary and Germany. The band has also gained extensive experience working with Ukrainian artists and bands.

Their latest track “Monstrum Orthrus” is an instrumental piece about the war in Ukraine. The Orthrus Monster (from the Latin word “Orthrus”) is a mythological creature – a two-headed hound with a snake instead of his tail which coincidentally has the suffix “RUS” which identifies directly with the events, firstly in Western Ukraine from 1932-33 up to now!

The track is a rhythmic outcry that has been fashioned to cinematic details with the way all the elements in the instruments work together to design an emotional outcry of spontaneous passion for help with the intensifying war. As the melody intensifies, so does the loss of innocent lives on the streets! The abundant display in this art piece is displayed by the rallying violin which is complemented to powerful effects with the dazzling cello. The vibrant drums, the booming bass lines, and the wistful piano match together like soldiers on vanguard and attack the melody on all fronts giving off an astonishingly creative instrumental work!

This thought-provoking and glamorously gracious instrumental both in display and meaning will grab your attention right from the start to the end giving you something to introspect about – right now the lives of the people in Ukraine are hanging on by a thread and all the foot soldiers who have decided to die fighting than kneel in cowardly are the heroes who will never be forgotten! “Monstrum Orthrus’ is about them and all the victims of war. They will rise again and their sons and daughter will bask in the glory of their triumphs!
