Athens, GA-based poet Shedrick S.H.E.D. Barnett collaborates with up-and-coming female vocalist DaniJay in the single “More Than Friends”

Shedrick S.H.E.D. Barnett is one of the best and most creative poets in the market at the moment, cultivating a love for poetry ever since he was of tender age. His love has never faltered. When he decided the time was ripe for him to share his art with the world, everything just flowed, and now we are talking of a performer with five albums and quite a number of singles.

His 2022 album, “A Poet Was Here, Vol. 2,” is actually his 5th album. From this 20-track compilation is a delightfully charming ballad, “More Than Friends,” featuring the phenomenally gifted R&B songstress DaniJay.

Making her presence felt, DaniJay goes on to stamp an indelible imprint on this record with her mellifluous vocals, singing straight from the heart and adding that sonic warmth and crystal clarity with that memorable chorus.

Shedrick S.H.E.D. Barnett injects the track with both sonic elegance and flair from the indescribable beauty of his poetry. He truly is a master of his own craft, and his wordplay here leaves nothing to be desired.

It also helps that Barnett has got one of those vibrant voices that fit in perfectly with this kind of style. Offering some flattering and complementary quotes meant to woo a lady friend into taking the next step with him, his lines conjure up mental images, and you get to live out the track with him.

The beat, which was produced by Sunny James Musiq, offers solid support for both of their performances. It is a splendorous blend of the dulcet guitar tones and the meaningfully hit cymbals and hi-hats.

“More Than Friends” is deserving of critical praise; it has been superbly performed, exquisitely produced, and lovingly arranged—all elements of a masterpiece.

“More Than Friends” is a must-have record for lovers of poetry and ballads in general. Already streaming on popular platforms including Spotify, this is your chance to experience an unforgettable poetry explosion from someone at the summit of their creative expression!
