Zachary James Celebrates the Quiet Comfort of Finding Love on His Heartfelt Debut Country Single “Dreaming of You”

Zachary James has always seemed comfortable moving between musical worlds. His work draws from classical and operatic traditions, while making room for the directness of Americana, folk, country, and pop. With his wide vocal range, theatrical instincts, and feel for a story, he gravitates toward songs about love, longing, intimacy, and the need to belong. There is a cinematic quality to his approach, though the emotions remain close to home.

That intimacy comes into focus on “Dreaming of You,” his debut country single. Written for his husband, Felipe, the song reflects on a life spent moving through chaos and long stretches on the road, and the peace that comes with finally finding someone to share it with.

The arrangement stays close to classic country. Soft acoustic guitars lead the way, accompanied by gentle strings and understated instrumental textures. Together, they create a slightly haunting atmosphere without crowding the melody. The slow, unhurried rhythm gives the song room to settle, leaving Zachary’s voice at the center.

He sings with a softness that feels deliberate. Rather than leaning on the full force of his vocal range, he lets small shifts in tone express the gratitude and relief running through the lyrics. His delivery is conversational, almost as though he is speaking directly to the person who helped him find his footing.

The accompanying video, set against a beach at sunset, suits that sense of calm. Its romantic scenery echoes the tenderness in his performance without distracting from the song itself.

There are reminders of earlier wounds and the exhausting uncertainty of life on the road. Yet “Dreaming of You” spends its time with the comfort of being understood, and the quiet joy of finding “Mr. Right.” That feeling of emotional healing gives the ballad its lasting warmth.

By the end, the song feels like a peaceful evening at home after a long journey. Its nostalgic country storytelling works because the love behind it feels specific and sincerely held. “Dreaming of You” is well worth a listen.
