A Story of Heartbroken Love and Absolute Reclaimed Power: This Is “Messed Up” by August Rayne

This is the epic story of heartbreak and an ensuing healing encounter manifested decoratively in two utterly contrasting yet melodically entrancing tunes. And who better to deliver than the sassy and vocally gifted R&B singer-songwriter August Rayne from Little Rock, Arkansas. Music is not a strange thesis to her seeing she grew up singing in the church choir and now she is gracing the field with her new dynamic and captivating release of ‘Messed Up” which comes up as a double package with the two ingratiating tunes, “Messed Up” and “Stay Wit Me”. “Messed Up” pays tribute to the more laid-back reminiscent, powerful and earnest R&B tunes with the track featuring an exciting nostalgic sound that’s highlighted by powerful, heartfelt feminine vocals describing the experiences of life after a breakup while reciting all the ‘messed up’ stuff one has to undergo simply because their other partner wasn’t considerate enough. In short, they messed us up! The swirling synth riffs mesh with the culminating vibrant drumming to produce an impressive wall of sound that should easily appease any oldie and modern R&B enthusiast.

This is a decent mix with great energy and an unreservedly commanding vocal performance that has been achieved via impeccable vocal layering and fix. The drums are well suited for this style of music and the bass sits more comfortably in the overall mix. The lyrics on display are meditative, honest, and emotional and they will undoubtedly resonate with listeners strongly.

“Stay Wit Me” is a solid track that adds more color and depth to its melodicism by adopting more deep layered rhythmic beats that integrate a subtle hint of laid-back mainstream Hip hop and summons the expressive bass and breezing drums that lead up to a lively and upbeat track that is as powerful as its message. Her sexy and angelic vocals inject the track with a sense of unpredictability and spontaneity helping to keep listeners heavily invested in the track. Talk is cheap and it would be only reasonable for a listener to feel the energy, vibe, and groove by hooping on that August Rayne encyclopedic wave and treat themselves to some authentic musical vocabularies that she has specifically invented for moments like these.
