Celebrating twenty years of hustle, Ty Bru demands respect on “Put It On The Set”, his gritty anthem with Silkk The Shocker.

Ty Bru is exactly how legends are made. His career thus far reads like an Oscar-winning film with highs and lows, deep emotions, and the ultimate peak victory that he is riding on, one jam, one film at a time. For him, each day is a deserved opportunity to do and be better than yesterday. It explains why his multifaceted career has been on an upwards trajectory and it keeps shooting. He is the right dose of inspiration you need to consume today. So, have at it, please!

Following his recent single “Self Employed,” Ty Bru has dropped another heavy track called “Put It On The Set.” He brought in his longtime collaborators Tenacious and J Bryant, and the song is anchored by a fiery hook from the hip-hop icon Silkk The Shocker. This release is part of Ty’s Mighty Monday campaign, an ambitious plan to release a new single every Monday through the end of 2025.

With more than twenty years in the game, Ty Bru sounds as hungry as ever. “Put It On The Set” is a perfect example of what happens when skilled lyricists connect and create something that truly hits hard. The beat is forceful and modern, with a throwback grit that gives it a timeless, anthem-like quality. The verses are aggressive, serving as a warning to anyone pretending to have skills they don’t possess. One line from J Bryant captures the track’s raw honesty:

“Your career such a tragedy, it’s funny how you fell from the top, kudos to gravity; it ain’t even waste no time, it happened rapidly.”

Silkk The Shocker’s hook is both hard-hitting and incredibly memorable:

“One for the money, two for respect,
Three for all of my real ones put that on the set,
Four for all of my hustlers running up a cheque…”

The track could get a club moving, but at its core, it’s an anthem about respect. It’s a roll call for genuine people and a confident declaration from a veteran artist who continues to grow while staying true to hip-hop’s foundation.

Speaking about the song, Ty Bru shared his process.

“‘Put It On The Set’ is a product of our Mighty Monday campaigns, which is when labelmates link up to plan, write, record, or build something great. We either meet, brainstorm, or hit Livewire Studio in Greensboro to lay down what we think are hits. Tenacious and J Bryant nailed their verses fast, and Silkk gave us this mean hook that brings both fierce energy and nostalgia. It’s the kind of track we wanted as part of our 20 YEARS OF MTTS celebration, loud, honest, and full of attitude.”

The Mighty Monday idea is the driving force behind his label, Mightier Than The Sword Records (MTTS). It’s a reflection of the resilience and vision that built the brand. Ty, who also works as a fashion designer and film festival director, continues to push the MTTS name forward, blending his artistic integrity with a sharp entrepreneurial spirit.

“Put It On The Set” is already connecting with listeners and critics, further cementing Ty’s place as a powerful voice in independent hip-hop.

Give it a listen and support independent music. You can purchase the track on Bandcamp or stream “Put It On The Set” on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
