At just 13, Katy, Texas native TommyG (Thomas) exemplifies the kind of humongous talent that transcends his young age. His passion for the kind of music he is writing and performing is palpable, and he has more than earned his spot as a young musical prodigy, outgrowing local gig performances to grace events like the Bobby Reed Show. And this is in no way a fluke—from what I’ve listened to so far, he’s got the knack for it.
The jam “SIO” is as mature as it gets, showcasing such songwriting prowess to capture deep emotions that resonate with anyone who has ever grappled with the intricacies of love, patience, and accepting anything. Well, young Tommy here is fine either way with hooks that suggest he is more than prepared for anything and will eventually shake it off…well, if it doesn’t go as expected.
The production for this jam merits a 4-star pop-esque rating, with the subtle rock flourishes thrown in for good measure contributing to its dynamic appeal. TommyG’s young-bred vocals melt lusciously with the instrumentals to create this infectious cadence that augments the catchy rhythm the music holds at its core.
The cocktail of the lead guitar, the bass guitar, the drums, and those striking horns provides the perfect, smooth highway for TommyG’s vocals to land. The mixing and engineering certainly leave nothing to be desired, making the overall job well done.
I remember when I was 13, and I can confirm here that I didn’t have my stuff half-figured out. It is incredible to see young kids like Tommy become aware of their paths as early as now and chase them relentlessly and determinedly. It is something that we, as adults, can definitely pick up and also be proud of the kind of adults they will turn out to be.
“SIO” is streaming now and has a story-led music video featuring TommyG and the young lady piquing his interest. It is worth a view, and it does supplement the jam ideally, both in symbolism and storyline.
A listen, repeat listen, like, share, and download of this jam will go a long way into making TommyG’s dreams a reality. Let’s make that happen!
