Brooklyn Artist Garfield Channels Personal Heartbreak into Upcoming New Single “Who You Lovin?”

At his core, Garfield is a storyteller who uses melody not just as a hook but as an emotional vehicle. He is emotionally raw, genre-blurring, and intensely personal. Rooted in the grit of Brownsville, Brooklyn, his style fuses the hard edges of street rap with melodic, almost haunting vocal cadences that hover between rapping and singing. His delivery often feels like he’s having a conversation with the listener—switching between sharp, punctuated bars and smooth, melodic flows—creating an intimate, almost confessional atmosphere. He doesn’t just ride beats—he bends them to match his introspective, often vulnerable narratives. This ability to blend abrasive energy with soulful undertones makes his sound stand out in today’s crowded rap landscape.

Garfield is now set to release one of his most personal and captivating track to date, “Who You Lovin?”, a song that transforms heartbreak into an anthem, blending raw emotion with undeniable sonic appeal. The highly anticipated single is now available for pre-save ahead of its official release.

With this jam, he maintains an unpolished authenticity that is bound to resonate with both mainstream and underground audiences. It finds him at his most vulnerable, drawing from real-life experiences of profound loss and heartbreak. The song was inspired by the devastating period following the loss of his mother to ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), compounded by a painful breakup when the person he loved sought love elsewhere. Despite the weight of its subject matter, the track carries a vibrant energy, thanks to Garfield’s signature fusion of rap and melody, layered over heavy, sliding 808 basslines, rapid-fire hi-hats, and an ominous, head-nodding tempo.

The infectious hook —
“Who you lovin’ on these days,
who you touching on these days,
’cause it ain’t me baby (cause it ain’t me baby),
who’s gon’ love you like me these days,
I say who’s gon’ treat you like me these days…” —
creates a powerful contrast between vulnerability and confidence, delivering a record that is as relatable as it is catchy.

Garfield, who first gained widespread attention with his viral 2021 single “Aaliyah Interlude,” continues to push boundaries with his rap-sung cadence and authentic storytelling. Hailing from Brownsville, Brooklyn, his music reflects the duality of his environment — the pain and perseverance of real life paired with an unrelenting drive to create timeless music.

With “Who You Lovin?”, he wanted to turn pain into something people can feel but still vibe to…and he did!

With this track, Garfield is set to solidify his place as one of the most exciting and emotionally honest voices emerging from New York’s ever-evolving music scene.
