It sounds like vintage funk rock pushed through the machinery of modern jazz fusion, with a result that feels vivid, muscular, and remarkably assured. Omer B, a composer who clearly values collaboration, brings together an impressive group of players here: jazz maestro Oz Noy, Oded Kafri on drums, Andy Warner on bass, and Abramo Riti on Hammond Organ.
The track is tightly played and groove-heavy without ever feeling rigid. Its rhythm section gives the music a physical, almost kinetic pull, while the guitars shape the framework and supply much of the flash.
As usual, Omer B composes through the guitar. His riffs, chord punches, and melodic phrases establish the song’s DNA. The overdriven tone gives “Bending Time” its rock muscle, while the syncopation keeps the track rooted in funk. Then Oz Noy enters like a second driver taking the wheel. He settles into the groove with effortless charm and ingenuity, bringing in his crooked, blues-inflected jazz language while respecting the rhythmic framework Omer has already established. His solos feel animated and alert, full of personality without disrupting the track’s momentum.
At that point, “Bending Time” turns into a conversation between composition and improvisation. Omer has built the road, Oded and Andy provide the engine, Abramo gives the track its character, and Noy drives it as though he has suddenly found another gear.
That motorsport comparison suits the song. “Bending Time” carries a strong sense of acceleration, driven by the velocity running through the entire performance. Given that Omer is an amateur race driver himself, it is easy to wonder whether that experience had some bearing on the track’s inspiration.
