For one Shedrick S.H.E.D. Barnett who hails from Athens, Georgia poetry defined his whole childhood and even if he did not know when, he knew that someday he’d want to practice it on a professional level and because no time is the right or wrong one, he fulfilled his dream in his early thirties which saw him start releasing his own written pieces. He is now growing a fan base as he continues to deliver some hard-hitting pieces that highlight his wisdom and the swiftness with which he delivers his clever words. Welcome aboard to the true definition of authentic poetry that mirrors a world only close to that of Shakespeare!
Shedrick S.H.E.D. Barnett has a new album out; “A Poet Was Here, Vol. 1” is his latest 23-track collection featuring some guest collaborations with artists from Georgia. The tune “A Taste Of The Holiday Season” is off of the same album. Featuring guest appearances from rapper Lucky Clover and male vocalist Mista Lee, this is an ode to Christmas which was actually inspired by a Christmas show Barnett was invited to perform of the same name!
Featuring some deep insight, “A Taste Of The Holiday Season” is one of the most thoughtfully written poetries I have ever listened to, and to say this piece hits close to home is an understatement; Shedrick really has a knack for word-phrase as he demands your attention through his effortlessly composed delivery over the perfectly laid-back instrumentals that were produced by Sunny James.
Rapper Lucky Clover underlines the message, driving it home and singer Lee adds that depth, uniqueness and color to this gratifying piece. This is one quality poetic Christmas carol that is just in time for the holiday season!
I am just delighted because I know the track I’ll wake up to on Christmas day and it won’t be “Santa Tell Me!”
