In any other life, artist, emcee, singer, composer, and performer Zachary Campos would still choose music over anything else. After the release of his two beautiful jams, “Candle” and “Balance” that was dedicated to the birth of his beautiful daughter Penelope, Zachary Campos has been working hard in the studio and has a new EP dubbed “Good Times” that has been inspired by everything happening around his life, the insatiable musical passion that he lives for as well as an ode to some of his biggest inspirations.
“Check” is a single off of this EP and an acoustic guitar-laden one at that. It also marks the first time that Zachary actually played and recorded the acoustic guitar, and what was born is simply an endlessly perfect sonic beauty with a deep meaning.
In part, “Check” tells the story of Zachary making a living for himself through his musical passion, performing in all manner of venues, from assisted living facilities, to wineries and breweries. It also borrows imagination from Johnny Cash’s live album “At Folsom Prison” and Kendrick Lamar’s “good kid m.A.A.d city.”
Creating this sufficiently listenable cadence with the candid acoustic guitar, Campos emotively glides over the mellifluent melodies, establishing himself as he tells a story that is more of an extension of his life and his inestimable passion for music.
Succinct and direct to the point with an equally gratifying melodic accompaniment, “Check” is Zachary’s own heartfelt confession to his dear fans and new listeners alike—music is so much more than just a hobby or a way to creatively express himself; – it is who he is, and he couldn’t wish for nothing more.
