Tony Hernandez’s life has always revolved around music, and since the day he discovered he could sing and strum the living hell out of a guitar, he has never slowed down, picking up from there and blending his musical passion with his own dedication to songwriting to begin igniting that spark for music. His music influences have always stemmed from his lifelong musical inspirations as well as his connection with other cultures and lifestyles from the various places and countries he has traveled. As someone who enjoys reveling in music outside my ‘comfort zone,’ Hernandez is one of those artists that fascinates me with his original music and the way he wears his heart on his sleeve, showcasing such limitless dedication to his craft.
Hernandez has also got the kind of eclectic voice with a baritone range. While most of his instrumentation tells the tale of rock, this combination with his vocal prowess itself is heavenly. Rooted in evocative yet demure musical landscapes complimented by the emotionally relatable lyrics and sedative vocals, Tony really delves deep into the alternative and rock genres with a thousand-yard stare. And what’s more; I really don’t think that Hernandez and his music have any ‘target audience’—he makes music for everyone in the mood to enjoy phenomenally crafted music.
Let’s talk about the album “Amor Eterno” for a minute. This was his first ever album to make, and when you listen to it, you will understand why he is an artist on his own creative tier. This is what we mean when artists create something that will stand the test of time.
“Amor Eterno” refers to “Eternal Love” and throughout the album, Hernandez engrosses you with his remarkable storytelling and melodic layering. This is an album that is glittering with sonic golds, starting from the title track all the way to the last track.
For some reasons, the song “Las Mujeres de Mi Vida” refuses to depart from me. It’s one of those songs that is hard to describe but easy to listen to. It is packed with quite the emotional serotonin over its smooth, string-fueled instrumentation, making it an emotional tour de force that envelops its listener like a warm embrace. Hernandez sings with a palpable passion, underscoring the song’s depth. This track is a personal favorite from the whole collection.
The title track “Amor Eterno” is both nostalgic and relevant. The sweet-sounding Spanish lyrics delivered by the ear-worming vocals of Hernandez are quite the treat. The precise drums, awe-inspiring guitars, and bass provide a decent landing for the vocal prowess of Tony, and he really comes clean and identifiable.
“Amor Eterno” is a 10-track album. This means that there is so much to relish, and hopefully, by the end of your listening experience, you will have found something that tickles your musical fancy.
