Unearthing Anjalts’ Personal Journey and Environmental Activism Through Her Multi-Genre Album “Air to Fire”

Anjalts - Air to Fire

Well, it looks like Anjalts has taken us on a journey from “Air” to “Fire,” but thankfully without any smoke breaks in between. With her multi-genre album, she’s managed to fuse alternative pop, hip-hop, new wave, neo-soul, and jazz-pop, creating a sound that’s as eclectic as a thrift store playlist.

And while some might say that the album is all over the place, I say it’s more like a musical buffet – you get a little bit of everything, and it’s all delicious. The album’s 15 tracks reflect Anjalts’ experiences over the past three years, including the loss of loved ones in 2020 and her commitment to safeguarding our planet’s natural wonders. As a Guyanese native who grew up with her grandparents, Anjalts has a deep appreciation for the Amazon Rainforest, which covers 87% of the land in her home country. The album’s title, “Air to Fire,” speaks to the importance of this vital ecosystem, which functions like the “lungs of the Earth,” filtering pollutants and providing clean oxygen for survival.

Anjalts’ songwriting style is non-explicit and deeply personal, with each track showcasing her unique musical talent. The album is a mix of alternative pop, eco-conscious hip-hop, new wave, neo-soul, and jazz-pop, showcasing her versatility and skill as a composer. Anjalts’ love of music is evident in her work, drawing inspiration from legendary artists like Pink Floyd, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, Prince, Journey, and Queen.

The album begins with “Enter the Forest,” a song that sets the tone for the entire album. The song features a drumbeat that transports the listener to the heart of the forest, and the combination of instruments and vocals creates a mystical atmosphere that is both calming and energizing. Anjalts’ voice is soothing, and her lyrics are poetic, making the song an excellent opening track for the album.

“Somewhere in the Sky” is a groovy track that highlights Anjalts’ neo-soul style. The song has a funky bassline that complements the soulful vocals and creates a laid-back vibe that is perfect for a lazy day. “Touch n’ Go” has a more upbeat tempo, with catchy guitar riffs and a chorus that is sure to get stuck in your head.

The title track “Air to Fire” has a captivating intro that sets the stage for the song’s message. Anjalts sings about the destructive nature of wildfires and the need to take action to protect the planet. The song’s lyrics are in question and encourage listeners to take responsibility for the environment.

“Times We R Living” is a song that captures the essence of living in the present moment. Anjalts’ lyrics are introspective and relatable, reminding listeners to appreciate the small moments in life. “Remember You” is a heartwarming ballad that showcases Anjalts’ vocal range. The song’s melody is beautiful, and the lyrics are a tribute to a loved one who has passed away.

“Miracle 4we” has a groovy beat that is impossible to resist. The song’s lyrics are uplifting and encourage listeners to believe in themselves and their dreams. “Calling Out” has a catchy chorus that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The song’s message is about standing up for yourself and not letting others bring you down.

“On Your Side” is a touching love song that showcases Anjalts’ vulnerability. The song’s melody is beautiful, and the lyrics are heartfelt. “Raining Flowers” is a dreamy track that highlights Anjalts’ vocal talent. The song’s instrumentation is minimal, allowing Anjalts’ voice to shine.

“Let’s Fly Away” is a hopeful track that encourages listeners to dream big. The song’s chorus is catchy, and the lyrics are inspiring. “Vanish” is a haunting ballad that showcases Anjalts’ emotive vocals. The song’s melody is beautiful, and the lyrics are poignant.

“A Tree Sings” is a song that highlights Anjalts’ eco-consciousness. The song’s lyrics are a tribute to the Amazon Rainforest and the people who protect it. “Remember U (Acoustic)” is a stripped-down version of “Remember You” that showcases Anjalts’ vocal talent. The song’s melody is simple but beautiful.

“Cry of the Amazons” is a powerful song that highlights the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest. The song’s lyrics are a call to action, encouraging listeners to take responsibility for the environment. The song’s instrumentation is epic, and Anjalts’ vocals are powerful, making it a perfect closing track for the album.

From her ode to the Amazon Rainforest to her tribute to loved ones who have passed away, Anjalts takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride that’s equal parts heartwarming and haunting. And if you’re not careful, you might just find yourself singing along to the catchy chorus of “Touch n’ Go” on repeat for days.

So if you’re looking for an album that’s soulful, thought-provoking, and environmentally conscious, then look no further than “Air to Fire.” And if you need me, I’ll be over here trying to hit Anjalts’ high notes in the shower.
